Come Away With Me: A NYC Elopement Story
Come away with me. Few things are as romantic as a Central Park elopement, and this one was no exception.
We met at the swanky London Hotel, where I photographed the getting-ready process and a sweet first look. Then into the taxi we went, bound for the grand arches and fountain of Bethesda Terrace.
With immediate family in tow and the bride’s parents joining emotionally via Skype from China, the ceremony began. There was a groovy officiant, an enthralled Boy Scout troop, and street musicians who strummed along. The couple exchanged rings, tears, and joy before a hearty “I do.”
After family pictures by the water, we headed downtown to photograph the couple by the 100 Gates Project. It was an edgy choice that worked beautifully against the polished pictures we’d made uptown. We even squeezed in an ice cream cone.
I love this wedding. It reminds me of what’s important. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed photographing it.
