Unpretentious, Lasting and Real: a Beautiful Brooklyn Micro Wedding in Prospect Park
All about family. Her sister in law made the ceremony flowers.
Mounted park police made an appearance.
Dappled autumn light.
Brother wipes away a tear.
Naturally, the dogs watched mom and dad get married.
Fifteen Guests in Prospect Park
There were 15 guests, a Prospect Park ceremony, and then a bar they rented for the afternoon—a halfway point between the neighborhoods where they lived when they first met.
That was pretty much the whole plan, and honestly, it was perfect.
There was nothing performative about this wedding. No enormous production, no room full of people they barely knew, no elaborate schedule designed to keep everyone moving from one thing to the next. Just the people who mattered, a beautiful day in Brooklyn, and plenty of time to actually be together.

A Small, Quiet Celebration
Their notebooks.
We started in Prospect Park, where the ceremony was simple and wonderfully unhurried. With only 15 guests, there was no need to manufacture intimacy. It was already there. Their dogs were part of it too, naturally.
At one point, a mounted park patrol officer rode by, because apparently even a 15-person wedding in Prospect Park gets a little New York-equine-security-detail.

A Bar Somewhere in the Middle
Afterward, everyone headed to the bar they had rented for the afternoon. The location had its own significance: it sat roughly halfway between the neighborhoods where they each lived when they first met. A small detail, maybe, but one that made the choice feel personal rather than arbitrary.
There were drinks, conversation, and the kind of loose, happy energy that happens when the formal part of the day is over and everyone can relax. Nobody seemed particularly interested in putting on a show. They were interested in each other.

His brother gave a very entertaining toast.
The Things Worth Remembering
And that, ultimately, is what I loved about photographing this wedding.
It was small without feeling sparse, beautiful without being precious, and thoughtfully planned without feeling over-planned. The photographs are full of the things I’m always looking for: gestures, glances, movement, people being themselves, and the little moments that would be easy to miss if you were too busy trying to make everything look perfect.
The reason I loved working with this couple was because they made everything so easy. They were just so organized — and you have no idea how far that goes on your wedding day.
Chocolate, buttercream and fresh strawberries.
Homeslices.
Gorgeous guests in a beautiful blue room.
Great style.
Listening.
Golden hour.
Unpretentious. Lasting. Real.
Exactly as it should be.
And then, a few days later, I received this, I was having a hectic week and it was just so nice to know how happy they were with their Brookyln micro wedding photography.
Love my clients.
Made my day.
