NYC Proposal Photography Ideas & Inspiration

So, you're going to propose? Congrats! And we're here to help. We'll photograph your proposal and engagement in our signature vérité style. And yes, we'll even shoot a video if you like. We'll capture the proposal and get the absolute coolest footage of this once-in-a-lifetime question you're about to ask. But no pressure.

A few things to think about before you pop the question:

• Location matters. Pick somewhere meaningful to you as a couple, or somewhere with a great view. We'll help you think through the logistics so we can be in position without giving away the surprise.

• Think about timing. Light, crowds, and the time of day can make a difference, especially at popular NYC locations.

• Keep it personal. The best proposals aren't necessarily the most elaborate. It's the small, specific details that make the moment yours.

• Decide what you want documented. The proposal itself is only part of the story. You might want portraits together afterward, a short video, or a little time to celebrate while we're still there.

Q. Proposal Photography Engagement Photography NYC. What’s the difference?

A: Proposal photography is having the expertise to nail the moment of asking them those four words your partner is dying to hear. The work must be clear, well lit, concise and tell the full story of what is happening.

Q. Can you help me come up with an idea for my proposal?

A: From years of experience, we can offer you some great ideas. Although we aren’t event planners, we know good spots you may not have even considered!

Q. But I spent all my money already on a ring. How can I afford proposal photography?

A: Proposal photography isn’t for everyone. But it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere. And we’re happy it’s going to stick around. So, consider building in a $1,200.00 USD cushion into the price of the engagement ring. If you think about it as part of the cost of the ring, you won’t have sticker shock when it comes time to book us.

Q: Now, what is engagement photography? How is it different from proposal photography?

A: Engagement photography is a little different from proposal photography. This is the ensuing shoot which occurs after the ring is accepted. It chronicles the moments and emotions after the actual proposal is over. This part of the shoot usually takes about 30-45 minutes post-proposal. We know you have calls to make and ring selfies to text to your families. We want to shoot it thoroughly but we also don’t want to keep you from living your life.
