How do I study with Angela?

You can book a one-on-one session with me. Here is the rotation of 4 topics I typically teach, and let’s see which resonates most with you:

  1. Finding Your Edge” is a workshop where I assist students in portfolio development by assigning a new project or looking at an ongoing project and letting them find their way with gentle direction and critique.

  2. "Preparing for a Grant Season", where I break down all the obvious and unspoken guidelines in applying for residencies and grants.

  3. "Getting Ready to Shop Your First Book to Publishers”. Here, I look at existing well-developed projects and demonstrate how to prepare a dummy, a project summary and getting someone to blurb their book before shopping it around to publishers.

  4. Good Flash Habits". Perhaps you are new to flash, or maybe you have tried but haven’t gotten the hang of it yet. I will offer guidelines to get you where you need to be to learn good flash habits.

Not all of these can be taught in one session but I can certainly provide a mini masterclass on each topic to get your work where it needs to be. Please understand that I do not offer career coaching. Nor am I here to sell you a list of names or make an introduction for you. You have to go out and do the work. I am simply here as part of what I hope is a lifelong education for you to help you in your journey. The beautiful art of documentary style photography has been a real gift in my life and I hope to share it with you.

Wo Hop, Chinatown lunch rush.
