Proposal Photography in Brooklyn, DUMBO
A Quiet NYC Proposal Followed by a Joyful Party
This guy did it right.
I’ve never shot a proposal quite like this one before.
When Sid wrote to me over a month ago, he had the date and concept planned in his head for how his proposal to his true love will look. We kicked around the idea of Brooklyn Bridge Park, but on a weekend evening in the summer, we knew it would be mobbed. We brainstormed together, and he came back with an amazing idea. He found a quiet speakeasy behind a shop. The Owners were so gracious and opened their hearts to the idea. Everyone went out of their way to make it special.
We met there early and did a dry run. He was so nervous and it was adorable. Her sister made up an excuse to get her there. She arrived, he poured his heart out to here, and gently slipped the ring on her finger.
RIght on time, the family first poured in. The moms and siblings and Sid’s dad were the first to have a special moment alone so everyone could be together. A celebration of the blending of two families.
Then, after a few family snaps, the friends were signaled to arrive. After a few moments, the party was in full swing. The speakeasy behind Thea Grant was such a special, intimate place. Thea was in full mode, making sure her venue was gorgeous for Sid’s proposal. How did Sid find this unique place? A friend had recommended it to him - when he saw it he loved it. Now this couple gets to have a memory of a special party surrounded by family and friends. Even the wonderful owner of Superfine next door made sure the food was perfect.
So Sid planned a proposal, a family arrival and then a catered party. You’d think he’d done this before. She knew it was coming because “he was acting funny all month.” But he did it and it was a night to remember.
