When I met Mike in his beautiful shop, it was because i has spent the day photographing the authenticity and feeling unique to 47th Street. I’ve been working on this body of work for about 2 years. It has me utterly fascinated. The gem trade all humming beneat a real city street that seems frozen in time.

Mike was so hospitable to me. We talked all about his family business; I even made a video of him talking about the legacy he proudly stewards. It goes back three generations, all the way back to the former Soviet Union.
